Stephanie Haney is a national and regional Emmy-winning host, journalist, producer, lawyer and legal analyst whose videos have been viewed millions of times across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
Currently, she's the digital anchor at the NBC affiliate in Cleveland, WKYC 3News. Over the past year she co-hosted a weekly political video podcast called Ohio Has Issues, which she created and produced. Stephanie is also the producer and host of the news station's VERIFY fact check series and a legal explainer series called Legally Speaking. When she's not doing those things, she is in the field conducting live interviews with her First Look series, highlighting what's new in Northeast Ohio.
In her spare time, Stephanie serves as a trustee for Rescue Village animal shelter where she chairs the external affairs committee, is a member of the board of directors of the Plexus LGBTQ & Allied Chamber of Commerce, and supports the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland through fundraising and awareness efforts.
Before moving home to Ohio in 2019, Stephanie spent the better part of a decade living in Los Angeles and New York City where she was a correspondent for syndicated news magazine show DailyMailTV, which won the award for Outstanding Entertainment News Program at the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. She's also had hosting roles on CBS (Undercover Boss) and The Travel Channel (Sturgis: Biker Madness), a series regular role on E! (The Drama Queen), and guest appearances on OWN, TNT, Spike, NFL Network, Fox Sports, and The History Channel.
To close out an incredible year in 2024, Stephanie was named one of Cleveland Magazine's "most interesting people" for 2025 and was featured on the cover of the January 2025 issue. She also received first place honors in 3 categories at the 2024 All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards: Government & Politics for her exclusive one-on-interview with Donald Trump's former deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews about her experience "Inside the Insurrection," Crime & Justice for her extensive breakdown of Ohio's largest bribery scandal involving FirstEnergy called "Shining a Light on Dark Money," and News Feature for her collaboration with Legal Aid on how Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library helped a father prove custody of his children to beat the IRS.
In 2023, Stephanie was part of the team that won Best Television Newscast in Ohio in a Major Market at the All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards. In 2022, she won the National Media Award from the National Council on Problem Gambling for her coverage on a year-long experiment on whether it pays to play the Powerball lottery. Stephanie also created and produced a weekly interview podcast called "3 Things to Know with Stephanie Haney," which was named the #1 podcast at the 2021 All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards. Her now-retired trending stories segment, "Clicking in Cleveland," won an Emmy for interactive short-form media at the 2022 Central Great Lakes Emmy Awards, and she won an Emmy for her role on "What's New" which was awarded Best Daytime Newscast at the 2021 Lower Great Lakes Regional Emmy Awards.
Following earning her Master of Science in Journalism from the University of Southern California, graduating magna cum laude as an Annenberg Fellow, Stephanie produced for ABC's Good Morning America in the Field and Series department, in addition to working on Diane Sawyer's "American Dream" project.
She's published in The Los Angeles Times, with cover stories featured in print in both Playboy Magazine ("The Campus Consent Crisis" on Title IX and sexual assault on college campuses) and LA Weekly ("The Brave New World Of Embryo Adoption" on the science that allowed a 51-year-old woman to give birth to twins). She has regularly written feature stories for DailyMail.com, POPSUGAR and other outlets.
Stephanie is licensed to practice law in both California and Ohio. She moved to Los Angeles after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. While in LA, she also studied improvisation at The Upright Citizens Brigade.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University, cum laude, where she double-majored in both Political Science and Sociology with a concentration in Criminology. She studied comparative politics abroad in Wales, UK, working as a research assistant for the Welsh National Assembly's Labour Party.
